Culture in Common - New Forest Show

Culture in Common

Culture in Common is a project launched in the New Forest by the Arts Council England in 2022.

A consortium of five local organisations managed to secure the projects funding: Energise Me, Folio, The Handy Trust, The New Forest District Council and The New Forest National Park Authority.

Inspired by the historic practice of Commoning, and iconic part of New Forest life, the project aims to bring people together through both the performing and fine arts as well as a rich, shared history to strengthen the local community.

At this year’s New Forest and Hampshire County Show, we are delighted to have created an entirely new section of our Showground dedicated to this shared vision.

It will feature a wide variety of performances, including live music, dance and comedy, all of which will be preformed by professional local arts and culture organisations. Escape from the bustle of the showground to enjoy regular music, song and dance performances from groups including ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, Coda Music Trust and African Activities. Culture in Common is Hampshire’s first Creative People and Places project

In addition, there will be a host of exciting have-a-go activities, including how to draw cartoons and playing the ukulele!

With so much to see and do in this section alone, plus the main ring displays, Showground activities and much more, you will not want to miss this year’s New Forest Show.
