A History of the New Forest Show – Thursday 30th January 2020

Exclusive Members Only Evening- 7pm Lyndhurst Community Centre

In 2020 the New Forest Agricultural Show Society is celebrating its centenary as well as the 100th anniversary of the New Forest Show.

To mark its special year, the Society invites you to join them for a talk with local archivist and historian Nick Saunders on the history of the Show. Places will be available exclusively to members until Monday 13th January, after which time we will be opening any remaining places to the general public.

Nick was challenged by the Society with the task of building a clear picture of the key moments, movements and people involved in the New Forest Show’s 100 year history. After many months of researching local and national newspaper archives, interviewing local families and carefully reading historical minute books, Nick now has a great story to tell and you’re invited to hear it.
Nick will be taking members on a fascinating journey, explaining the Show’s developments over its first 50 years from its beginnings as a small one day Show in Netley March in 1920 to the beginning of the Show’s time at New Park in 1955.
We really hope you can join us for this unique opportunity to learn about the history of the New Forest Show, which has been a highlight of the New Forest calendar for 100 years.
