We think it’s always better to be prepared before heading to an event – it alleviates stress, last minute decision making and worst of all arguing with back-seat drivers who think they know better. That’s why we’ve got you covered, with this exclusive 2026 guide of transport to and from the Show. So whether you’re planning on driving, training, taxiing, park and riding or cycling, we’ve got answers to all your burning travel related questions.
How to get to the New Forest Show by car
Driving is by far the most popular way to get to the Show, and although we do encourage people to use other modes of transport to improve the impact on the local community, we understand that many people travel to the New Forest Show from all over the UK and beyond, so at times driving may be unavoidable.
There’s a large car park adjacent to the Showground which visitors are welcome to use for any of the 3 Show days, it will be open from 6.30am each day and is free of charge for those attending the Show. If you can, it’s a great idea to carshare with friends and family who are also heading to the Show, as it cuts down on the volume of traffic – making travelling and parking easier for everyone.
It’s also best to arrive as early as possible as roads in the area can get very busy on Show days – the earlier you travel the less congestion you’ll encounter! When planning the best route for you, we advise using your navigation device and then simply following the AA signs once you come across them.
Using the Brockenhurst park and ride
If you don’t fancy getting up at the crack of dawn to beat the queues, or your considering hopping on a train but aren’t interested in the 30-minute walk, then why not consider using our dedicated park and ride service? This shuttle service is exclusive to the New Forest Show over the 28, 29 and 30 of July, and will be running from Brockenhurst train station to the Showground from 7.30am to 7.00pm each day!
The service is run by the fantastically efficient More, on behalf on the Show, and with costs as low as £1 for a child, and £2 for adult return tickets, this really is an absolute steal of a way to get to the Show without the faff and stress of parking! If you’re interested in using the Park and Ride, don’t worry, you don’t need to book in advance just hop on and pay on the day!
Travelling by Train
If you fancy indulging with a drink or two at the New Forest Show, why not take the train? It eliminates the stress of driving and lets you relax enough to truly enjoy this wonderful day out.
The nearest train station to the Show is Brockenhurst which is just a 30-minute walk, or 5-minute drive from the Showground, and which has a regular shuttle running from it throughout the 3 days. There should also be an abundance of taxi’s available on the day straight from the station!
We highly recommend booking your tickets in advance to avoid extra stress on the day, and make sure you keep up to date with train times to ensure delays don’t spoil your day out. For more information check out South Western Railway or Trainline for timetables and costs.
If you are travelling via train from the Isle of Wight there is a City Link free bus service called Quayconnect that runs every 30 minutes between the Red Funnel Ferry terminal at Town Quay and Southampton Central Railway Station. We advise you always check for up to date information before you start your journey, but they are scheduled to run from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm.
Getting a Taxi to the New Forest Show
Maybe you’ve just got off a busy train and the last thing you want to do is get on a shuttle bus, or maybe you’re staying locally and don’t fancy a walk amongst the traffic. Why not splash out a little and book a taxi to take you all the way to the Showgrounds entrance. With several local taxi companies that offer reliable, punctual and competitive rates, you’re spoilt for choice by taxis in Brockenhurst! Most companies offer cars that can fit a maximum of 6 people, making this the perfect option for those with bigger families, or who want to rideshare.
As always, we recommend booking in advance with your chosen firm. Most Brockenhurst based companies have online forms or you can just give them a call to arrange everything, but don’t leave it too late! Make sure you get in early to secure your travel plans so on the day you can sit back, relax and enjoy!
Cycling and walking to the Show
If you live locally or are staying nearby and fancy a gentle walk or cycle onto the Showground, then you’re in luck! We offer cycle racks for bikes free of charge – simply show up to the entrance and you’ll be directed to the rack where you can lock your bike with your own cable and leave it safely for the duration of the Show. You can also leave your helmet and any biking equipment securely just inside the gate at the ‘Shop and Drop’.
The New Forest has a wonderful network of local cycle routes, but during the Show these tracks are also used by vehicles coming to the event, because of this we advise cyclists not to travel on the Forestry England tracks on the days of the Show.
We are only a 30 minutes from the centre of Brockenhurst, so it’s a great option if you opt to walk to the Showground. The main roads around the Forest can get very busy during the Show so we would strongly steer you away from choosing any routes that include them. Accessible Travel Options
At the New Forest Show we pride ourselves on welcoming everyone, including those with limited physical movement.
We have accessible parking for those with a Blue Badge permit. You can take advantage of this by popping it on your windscreen, making sure it’s visible to the parking wardens, and they will happily direct you to the accessible car park.
The park and ride bus is operated by More, who welcome wheelchair users onto their services. The driver will try their best to ensure wheelchair users can board first and provide a manual ramp if needed.
South Western Railway trains should also be accessible for wheelchair users. There should be at least 2 wheelchair bays available on every train, and station staff or the on-train guard will help with any ramps that may be necessary.
When ordering a taxi, be sure to let the operator know that you require a car with space for a wheelchair and the companies will try their best to accommodate your needs.
