This year’s New Forest Show is serving up something special. Two independent, local drinks businesses – 820 Spirits and Hall & Woodhouse – have joined forces to create a locally inspired drinks experience for our visitors, with two exclusive cocktails celebrating the flavours of the New Forest available across the Show’s event bars.

Distilled Six Miles from the Showground

820 Spirits is an award-winning distillery founded by New Forest-raised brothers Tom and Jonny Simpson, based at The New Forest Distillery in Lymington – just six miles from the showground. They craft small-batch spirits from local botanicals, from hedgerow sloes to strawberries picked just seven miles from the Show, with sustainability at the heart of everything they do.

They’re joined by Hall & Woodhouse, one of England’s oldest surviving independent breweries. Founded in Dorset in 1777 and approaching its 250th anniversary, the family-run brewery is best known for Badger Beers – including the legendary Tanglefoot – and operates over 250 pubs across the south of England. Their experienced events team brings beers and hospitality to major festivals and shows throughout the region.

Together, they share a passion for quality, provenance and memorable hospitality – showcasing the very best of the region in one of its most celebrated settings.

You Named It: The Commoners Cure

Earlier this year, we asked you to name the collaboration’s brand-new cocktail – and you didn’t disappoint! After sifting through some brilliant entries, we’re delighted to announce the winning name: The Commoners Cure, suggested by Emma from Lymington.

Inspired by the wild hedgerows and foraging traditions of the New Forest, The Commoners Cure blends 820 Spirits’ Sloe Gin and Solamaro (their orange aperitif) with lemon juice and ginger beer – bright, fruity and full of local character.

New Forest Rum Punch

Also on the menu is the New Forest Rum Punch – a champion of the classic rum punch, built around The Dawes Rum, 820’s IWSC gold medal-winning aged rum, with lime, sugar, water and Angostura bitters, dusted with fresh nutmeg.

Find Them at the Bars

Both cocktails will be served alongside Hall & Woodhouse’s much-loved beers at the event bars throughout the Show, running 28th–30th July. Whether you’re toasting a day of Main Ring action or winding down after exploring the food stalls, there’s no better way to taste the New Forest in a glass.
