With Next Generation members now having places on almost all committees, the aims and essential skills will be passed on and shared to secure a sounds future for the Show. A ‘Pint and Pie’ evening was held to allow members to get to know one another outside the Show and to encourage new people to get involved, which was a success with new members recruited.
In November the first Next Generation Committee Conference was held at Sparsholt College. The Conference addressed the issue of the Future of Young people in Agriculture . The event was attended by over 70 people. Guest speakers included: James Townshed from Velcourt Group Limited; William and Katy Fox from Lyde Green Farm; Kerriann McLackland, Countryside & Rural Estate Manager at Hampshire County Council and 2014 Show President Tim Jackson, Principal of Sparsholt College. The guest speakers then held a panel discussion to consider the issues that had arisen. The forum sparked some lively debate and covered many issues faced by young people in agriculture. We thank our sponsors Blake Morgan and Strutt Parker for supporting the event.
