Durlston Court School sponsor Schools Gardening Competition - New Forest Show

Durlston Court School sponsor Schools Gardening Competition

We are delighted to announce Durlston Court School are sponsoring our our Schools Gardening Competition in the Flower and Gardening Show.

We are keen to involve the younger generation in all aspects of the Show and to this end, we would like to invite local schools to take part in a gardening competition to be displayed within the Flower
& Gardening Marquee in July.

The competition involves a class or year group planting up two decorative window box planters with either flowering plants, decorative non-flowering plants, vegetables or salad plants. The plastic containers could also be decorated to add an attractive visual impact to the display. We would also encourage the children to keep a diary of how the planter grows and what actions they have taken, a group photo of the children involved could also be
submitted and this would all be displayed alongside the exhibit within the marquee.

If the children are able to, we would encourage them to incorporate ‘Celebrating Country Life’ into the theme of the planters.

The New Forest Show would supply the containers and compost required for the display and the planters would need to be delivered to the Showground by Sunday 22nd July in order that we may
create an exhibit within the Flower & Gardening Marquee. The planters will then be judged and will remain on display for the duration of the Show.

There will be a trophy for the winning school, along with rosettes and certificates for the other participants.

If you would like to take part in this competition, please contact our Flower Show Chairman, John Penney: [email protected] or 01425 612570

This project was a great success last year and we are looking to build upon it further for 2018.
