REGULATIONS:
The Ridden and Working Hunter classes
are held under the Rules and Jurisdiction of Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain.
Classes H17 to H21 are qualifying events for this year's Horse of the Year Show
and only horses registered on the current year Show Hunter Register are eligible
to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and
riders must be members of the Society. No substitutions are permitted after
the closing date of entries.Whilst every effort will be made, it may not be
possible for the Judge to ride every Horse in each class.
QUALIFIERS, TROPHIES and SPECIAL ROSETTES:
HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW - 4th to 8th October 2006 at the NEC
Birmingham. In the Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Working Hunter and
Small Hunter (classes H17 to H21) the highest placed horse in each class will
qualify to enter the HOYS, unless it has already done so, in which case the
second horse will go forward; no horse lower than second place in its class
will qualify.
THE NATIONAL HUNTER SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW (NHSC). The three highest placed horses in classes H17 to H19, H21 and H22 will qualify to enter at the NHSC. No horse placed lower than third in its class will qualify. All regulations applicable to HOYS qualifiers will also apply to NHSC qualifiers.
THE BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE - The
qualifier from each of the following classes will be the highest placed horse
(not already qualified) that is registered or eligible for registration on the
Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Register, i.e. with a minimum of
25% proven Irish Draught breeding. The horse need not be registered to qualify
but must be on the IDHS (GB) registers by the time of the Championship, which
will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 17th September 2006 at the
Lincolnshire Showground. Each Qualifier will receive a rosette and £10
voucher from Blue Chip. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000
in prize money plus a trophy and Blue Chip rug, the Reserve Champion will be
awarded £500 and 3rd - 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each.
In addition, £100 prize money plus a trophy will be awarded to the highest
placed Pure Bred and a trophy to the highest placed under 15.2hh.

FORWOOD BOWL (perpetual) donated by the late Lt Col Sir Dudley Forwood & Lady Forwood to the winner of class H21
THE TRAKEHNER BREEDERS' FRATERNITY offers a special rosette to the highest placed
pure bred or part-bred Trekehner in each class, provided it is registered with
the Society and the registration number is noted on the entry form.
THE CLEVELAND BAY HORSE SOCIETY offers a special rosette to the highest
placed pure or part-bred Cleveland Bay in each class, provided it is registered
with that Society and the registration number is noted on the entry form.

fees include a £9.00 Horse of the Year Show contribution)

H17 HOYS LIGHTWEIGHT HUNTER - Mare or gelding, four years old or over.
Capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lb).
H18 HOYS MIDDLEWEIGHT HUNTER - Mare or gelding, four years old or over.
Capable of carrying 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lb) and not exceeding 89kgs (14 stone.)
H19 HOYS HEAVYWEIGHT HUNTER -
Mare or gelding, four years old or over. Capable of carrying over 82.7kgs (14
stone)
H20 HOYS WORKING
HUNTER - Mare or Gelding four years old or over, exceeding 148cm (14.2hh)
, to be judged in accordance with the rules herein set out. Grade A Show Jumpers
and Advanced Eventers are not eligible to compete in this class. To be judged
60% for jumping performance, 40% as for Hunter classes. The jumping to be judged
40% for actual jumping and 20% style and presence, ride and conformation 40%.
Fences to be a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum
height of 3' 9" at the discretion of the Judges. Fences should have a natural
appearance and not be easily dislodged. No unnumbered obstacle can be included
in the course. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider
or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden under sidesaddle, in which
case, in order to allow the Judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the
riding phase only). A skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current
approved BSI or European Standard must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping
phase; skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. Horses may be equipped
with boots of a plain colour in the jumping phase only. Rigid or weighted hind
boots are not allowed. On completion of the jumping phase all clear rounds and
any other horses the Judges may require should be asked to return to the ring.
If a horse positively stops, or turns its quarters to a fence, or has a complete
turn around, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence
out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience,
or horses leaving the ring, whether mounted or dismounted, will be eliminated.
Exhibitors will now be allowed to enter up to two horses in a Working Hunter
class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select
only one horse to take forward into the ridden and conformation section if required
(no change of rider is allowed).
Penalties: First refusal = 15; Second refusal = 20; Third refusal = Elimination; Jumping knockdown = 10 BSJA rules apply for the definition of a knockdown;Fall of Horse or Rider = Elimination.
Conformation marks will be divided equally between the Conformation judge and Ride judge. Horses with minus scores will not be required for end phase of class. Working Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the Judge has given permission.
H21 HOYS SMALL HUNTER - Mare
or gelding, four years old or over, exceeding 148cm (14.2hh) but not exceeding
158cm (15.2hh). A horse registered as a Small Hunter cannot
compete in an Open Weight Class.
RIDDEN HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP - To be judged from the first and second prizewinners in classes H17 to H20
