Womens Institute | New Forest Show

Any Hampshire members of WI Groups who would like to enter their homemade wares or crafts in the competitions at the Show should take a look at the varied classes available. Please download the schedule, complete and return the application form to the address contained within to get involved in this lively and enthusiastic part of the Show.

This year, the competitions are linked together by the theme Refresh, Renew, Recycle. The organizing committee are hoping that this title will inspire those involved to dig deep into their stashes and cupboards, rework old items and create prize-winning toys from old jumpers and socks, and shoulder bags from fabric scraps.

Cookery is not forgotten in the WI tent and thoughts of austere times will return to make jam from dried fruit and cheese scones from those pieces that are perhaps past their best, so nothing is wasted. Modern day baking makes an appearance too as keen biscuit makers are being asked to refresh an old recipe by making it gluten free.

A strong favourite of visitors to the WI Tent is the Committee Cup, where the public choose the winner instead of the WI Tent judges. This year, WIs have been asked to produce a collage entitled Recycle, made from recycled materials; there is no doubt that a beautiful display will be presented for visitors during Show week. We look forward to seeing you again in the tent and enjoying browsing the beautiful creations of our talented WI members.

This the WI Tent will host a variety of demonstrations including needle felt, tapestry weaving, Tunisian Crochet and book folding to name a few.
